When and why did you start working in the fitness industry?

I started working in the industry in 2000. I had always been passionate about fitness from playing all sports for fun, to strength and conditioning specifically for rugby. From fitness being part of my life I started working in a health club and started to pass on my passion as a gym instructor, personal trainer, gym manager, personal trainer coordinator, before I took on my role with REPs. I now organise fitness industry conferences across the UK, but my passion is still seeing improve their fitness and achieving their aims.

What are your specialities and preferred methods?

I believe in a holistic approach to fitness – looking at everything: exercise, diet, rest, and enjoying yourself! I believe in balancing lifestyle, with planning and moderation being the key to achieving the balance. I enjoy and appreciate all forms of exercise but strongly believe that intensity is the key to achieving results. Weight and resistance training is also essential to changing metabolisms – but I’m not talking about bicep curls, I’m talking whole body movements that will get lots of muscles working!

What are your hobbies and interests?

I love spending time with my family and my dog Izzy. My wife Emma and my boy Seb are always keeping me busy! I have always enjoyed all sports with Rugby League being my preference when I was playing. After accepting my playing days were over I moved onto watching all sports which Emma really appreciates… My following of Liverpool can often affect my mood!

What is your favourite healthy meal, and cheat meal?

Barbequed chicken and salad, and a spicy curry with lots of cobra!
